Capstone Project Presentation!

On Wednesday, May 11, my fellow global scholar Margaret Sweeney and I presented our capstone project to the poly community on Arden lawn. We discussed our collaboration with Partnership for Success as we create our Leadership in a Global Context summer school course. We talked about why we were drawn to work with PFS, and what we have learned throughout our entire capstone project experience. We first reflected upon the grant writing process itself. We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with the advancement office at Poly, and it was certainly an educational experience to learn about how to propose your idea in the most concise and enticing way possible.

We also talked about our project itself. Because our project really culminates in actually teaching the course this summer, we emphasized that this presentation was more of a working update rather than a final wrap up. As we continue to work on the course curriculum, we are both excited to see which speakers come to speak and how we can create the curriculum around them. As for right now, Margaret and I are currently designing the broad global curriculum and reaching out to speakers. With the help of Mr. Caragher and Ms. Diederich, we decided to structure the broad global curriculum around the Asia Society’s pillars of global competency. Each week will be centered around one of these pillars, and our weekly speakers will have some connection to said pillar/theme. In the coming weeks we are hoping to finalize speakers and dates, so that we can then really tailor the day to day curriculum to their area of expertise. Margaret and I are very excited to continue working on this course and eventually teach it this summer!
